Putting my trust in people, depending on people to supply the security, attention, love, company that I need, will leave me like a little shrub on the dunes/in the desert – barely hanging in there by the tips of my toes.
But putting my trust in God (as the Amplified Bible describes it in Isaiah 26:3: my mind stayed on Him, committing myself to Him, leaning on Him, hoping confidently in Him) will result in my being a strong tree next to a river, my roots going deep and reaching the life-giving water – heat resistant, my leaves staying fresh and green (on a psychological level, soul/talents/relationships) and bearing fruit perpetually (spiritual level, fruit of the Spirit – influencing all my other relationships).
