I was reminded of the priests standing in the middle of the Jordan with the ark of the covenant when I read in Psalm 114 how the sea flees and the river Jordan turns back, the earth trembles at the presence of the Lord, the rock turns into a pool of water and the flint into a fountain of waters.
When I am filled with and controlled by the Holy Spirit I can stand in the midst of hardship with confidence that the God who made heaven and earth, is in control of this situation, and that in Jesus I can freely come to Him with my problem.
He can even turn the hearts of flint around me (next to me) into living water. For that I may pray with confidence – not confidence in my faith, but in Him who is faithful.
